Good day friends!
Here we go! If you call Vinita home, or have ever called it home, maybe you will enjoy this brand new avenue of info coming your way.
I'm getting my feet wet as we say in Oklahoma which means I'm trying or doing something brand new.
Together we can stay informed about improvements and government in Vinita. I just want to be a simple good neighbor that can share important information with you.
The Vinita Water Treatment Plant is getting ready to undergo some much needed improvements. We have a new engineer that's been working with the plant operators to improve some things quickly. We have been out of compliance again, but just barely. It's not anything the operators of the plant are doing wrong, it's just that the plant needs to be updated. Our tranes(we have 4 of them) will be opened one by one and inspected, then hopefully the media can be replaced(that's what filters the water). There are other technicalities that will take place when they're opened and hopefully they can be revitalized and updated. This will save the city millions of dollars. If we had to go another direction, like a new plant, we would be talking 9 or 10 million dollars. As a small city we can't afford that price tag.
A start date of October 2011 was mentioned because water consumption will be reduced by then. It's very exciting to watch the council discuss and address the needs of Vinita and its' people. They are trying to hold costs down so the citizens don't have to carry any heavier monetary burden.
Vinita has a brand new director of operations. He's communicating with the departments heads and utilizing their wealth of knowledge. He presented pictures and diagrams of the waste treatment plant to a committee and showed the council people the needs of the plant and they are being addressed promptly.
I guess what I'm trying to say is our little town was in a ditch, but it's backing out slowly but surely. Good, strong and honest leadership makes a difference. I don't want to overload with information, so we'll continue later with updates on the goings on of Vinita.
Till later,
Okie Girl @ Home
