Well Hello Winter!
All the weathermen in Tulsa, OK. are sayin it is on the way. I know the dad gum temperature has dropped. Supposed to be in the teens by morning.
Sunday night snow is coming in, turning to freezing rain, then Monday afternoon back to rain. I certainly hope they miss the forecast this time.
Someone mentioned just the other day about the mild winter we are having. I hope you bite your tongue. Sorry if you read this, but you jinxed us!
Since 2007 we've had enough ice and snow to last us for several years. We've been short on rain though, so I won't mind the rain. Will have to pray for the temps to stay above freezing.
In 2007 some folks were out of electricity for 8 days or more. I remember well going back out to the lake where we lived and it was like a war zone. Damaged trees, homes, fences, cars in the ditches for days. It was so bad you had to hold cardboard over your head outside cause the limbs were snapping right and left under the weight of the ice.
Don't want to go there again! 2008 was just as bad after we had moved back to town. I timidly told everyone we had a black cloud over us and we brought the bad weather with us when we moved back. I was joking, but some of them believed me, so I quit telling that story.
Last year in February, 2011 we had 20 inches of snow in February, so you can understand my disgust with winter weather.
On a more serious note. I just watched the Friday night documentary/news story about the two little boys that were murdered by their father. According to police accounts, he hit them with an axe and then exploded the house with a gasoline fire. They died of smoke inhalation, not the axe. So very sad that someone is so sick that they couldn't let the boys have a chance of happiness with their grandparents, but instead took their lives because he couldn't have them.
I'll be praying for those grandparents that have lost so much and still display a mantle of calmness and courage.
Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
