Hello Friends,
I have a burr under my saddle today.
GRDA stands for Grand River Dam Authority. The corporate headquarters are in Vinita, Oklahoma and have been since the construction of the Pensacola Dam in the 1930's.
The Authority is a state electric utility. GRDA is synonymous with Vinita, Oklahoma. The Pensacola Dam is about 18 miles from Vinita and that's where they generate the electricity.
There have been several dust ups recently with CEO's and looks like there may be another one in the works. Kevin Easley was the former CEO for a short time and there were some issues with him drawing extra money as salary that he had ordered, not the board. Anyway he's gone and now Dan Sullivan, a former state representative is CEO.
Last week in the local paper there was an article about Dan Sullivan wanting to move the headquarters to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The first thing that came to my mind was the fact that Sullivan's former District was 71 and that's kind of in the heart of Tulsa, OK.
Now I've found out that Dewey Bartlett is on the board of GRDA. I smell a rat! Dewey Bartlett is the Mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Why would they want to move the headquarters so far away from the base of operations? Part of the operations are at Langley, Oklahoma where the dam is located, then there is a coal fired generation plant near Pryor, Oklahoma.
I worry about the loss of jobs for the people in and near Vinita, Oklahoma and I also wonder why they would spend over 2 million dollars purchasing a building in Tulsa, Oklahoma when they have a perfectly good one here? I would like to know who owns the building they are planning on purchasing? Could it possibly be the one the City of Tulsa moved out of a few years ago? I certainly don't know, but I intend to find out.
I just found out the board voted to move the headquarters to Tulsa, OK. Another job source lost for Vinita, OK. How sad and the vote was 4 in favor and 2 opposed. Dewey Bartlett Jr. voted in favor and he's the Mayor of Tulsa. You tell me that's not a conflict of interest and I'll eat my hat. (If I had one)
Looks as if they're going to get by with this shenanigan, oh well, I'm tired of the big people hurting the little people. I'll let God do His job and take care of it and I'll but out.
Update on the dead grass at the cemetery. It's getting a bit better, but it's a slow go.
Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
