June Primary 2012

Hello Good People,

Well politics is taking the stage here in our little corner of the world, namely, Craig County. We have some county offices that are coming up for re-election. The primary is in June, and it will decide the election because everyone that registered was a Democrat.

Craig County Courthouse (New One)

Craig County Courthouse (Old One)

We have a sheriff's election and the incumbent, Jimmy Sooter filed, then we have another candidate, Joe Johnson.

Johnson is the FORMER mayor of Vinita. He was the mayor when the water meter debacle took place. Vinita is still trying to recover from that fiasco. We pay $12,575.00 per month for supposed automated meters that can be read remotely from city hall. We have 12 more years of 15 years paying this note with no provision for early payoff allowed, so that's money that can't be directed to other needs. With that system the city was supposed to have received an Internet system too, but............................., nothing has been easy and the city officials are still trying to get the system to work.

I forgot to mention that he was treasurer of the trust authority (CCA) that was set up in this water meter mess and he's named as a defendant in the lawsuit the city has against Connex and others. The state auditors of Oklahoma are looking into this project too.

Another office on the ballot is the County Clerk position. Tammy Malone is the incumbent and David DuBois is the challenger.

The next seat on the ballot is District 2 County Commissioner. Hugh Gordon is the incumbent and Chris Windle is the challenger.

Mary Denny drew no opponent in the Craig County Court Clerk race.

I guess you can tell that I don't endorse Joe Johnson as candidate because in my opinion he's not qualified and I don't believe he would be good for our county.

Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
