Memorial Day 2012

Greetings to All,

I hope everybody is having a wonderful holiday weekend. We made the rounds to our cemeteries on Friday and man is the ground getting hard and dry.

Thank goodness tool man took some water with us because we had to soak some of the ground before we could stick wires into the dirt.

First off, I'm posting a picture for a follower that lives in California. Letting her know that the headstone was untouched by the recent vandalism.

It's been very humid here and I was looking for shade at the country cemetery before I finished decorating the graves. I have most of my Dad's family buried there, so it takes awhile.

This is my dad's resting place

He was a WWII veteran and former POW

I try to keep a flag near his grave because I want people to know he sacrificed for his country. He was a prisoner of the Japanese for 42 months. He was beaten and starved. These soldiers were so malnourished when they were freed that the military had to ship them stateside and fatten them up before their families could see them.

No, he wasn't the only one to sacrifice. Many have served, suffered and died in service to their country, The United States of America. This is a day to pay tribute to our veterans.

I have friends, relatives and my husband that served in the military and to them I say, "Thank You".

Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home

  1. Thanks Linda! Good to know that Dad's headstone is still in tact.
