Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall, you betcha!

Hello Neighbors & Friends,

Well we felt our first earthquake on Saturday night at 11:54pm. Just now I think I felt an aftershock, maybe it was thunder, but I felt my chair shake for a second. If it's thunder it will happen again.

They said there was another one around three this morning, but thank goodness I slept through that one. When we first heard the deep rumble last night the house began shaking almost at the same time. I looked at my husband and he looked at me all the while our dog was going nuts. Then just like that it was over. My dear beloved thought something had blown up in the distance, but I knew almost immediately that it was an earthquake.

I'm gonna have to look up a map and see just where the fault lines are in America. I would hate to have to move, if you know what I mean. I've always been convinced that California is going to fall off into the ocean one of these days, so that's not an option for me. The southern coastline has too many hurricanes and they have big mosquitoes too, so I don't wanna go there. Don't know much about the East coast, so I can't say nothin about it. Like I said, I'm going to investigate these fault lines, but then I know in my heart I won't move, unless my house falls into a crack.

I don't know about you all, but I don't hanker to the idea of the earth shakin.  I've grown up with tornadoes and they're scary, but you can seek shelter. There is no way to outrun an earthquake, cause if there was I would have been halfway there last night. I laid in bed way into the morning listening for more rumbles and tensing every time the wind gusted, then finally I drifted into an uneasy slumber. I've been a bit testy today, just ask my husband that really loves me.

As for new experiences I would have gladly foregone last night's shaking. I haven't felt anymore shakes since I began writing, so it must have been a tiny tiny aftershock.

It's time to settle down for the day, let's see, the clock says 7:41pm, but it's really 8:41pm. That's another thing, this daylight savings time is tougher every year. I'm not even sure if we're on Daylight savings time or Standard time. I just know I wanna go to bed at 6pm and get up at some unearthly hour. I've heard women talk about their biological clock ticking, well my just spins round and round for several days until I finally acclimatize to the new hours. I reckon I'm getting older and harder to please, but don't tell anybody, okay?

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I hear Humpty hollerin for his dumpty, so I'll find the glue and make ready for the next shake rattle and roll in Northeast Oklahoma.

Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
