I made it out to the new Community Building in Craig County yesterday as I promised. The fair was going full tilt. Why don't I just show you the pictures?
Front Foyer
Exhibits
More exhibits. I was thinking to myself what a wonderful way
for talented people all over the county to show off their skills.
This pair of roosters caught my eye
I really perked up when I saw the quilts
A skill that's almost been forgotten
Sewing
Another quilt
Tool man & I were choosing our favorites and
I was wishing I had this talent for making
something beautiful.
Speaks for itself. Generation after generation defending freedom.
Those pieces of pie made your mouth water.
Gorgeous pies.
I was standing by the door to the foyer as I snapped this picture
of the largest room (12,000 sq. ft.) in the new building.
This is the kitchen in the brand new community building.
If you'll look, you can see the window at the other end and that
window looks into the large room.
This is the lounge area off the West end of the kitchen where
you can go sit down and have a cool drink or a bite to eat.
Oh, and these were a few of the FFA members lounging around.
I ask them why they were sitting and they said, "Cause nobody's here
to eat yet."
They were waiting to serve lunch to the Rotary and Lions Club.
Future Farmer's of America teaches farming and agriculture, but also service to the community. Hats off to these young people!
There were lots of entries into the fair. We saw a lot of homemade canned goods, tomato sauce, corn, green beans and lots more. Baked goods were everywhere and flowers and plants had a special place. There were vendors selling their wares and people browsing all the entries into the fair.
A county fair is a group of people that come together each year and share their pride in what they've accomplished. It's also a time to rest and relax and visit with friends and neighbors as you enjoy some entertainment and good food.
I will admit I didn't go to the livestock barn because it was so hot and humid. Sorry, but there are no animal pictures to share, but let me show you these pictures of my neighborhood.
The city was flushing the fire hydrant across the street.
Of course it didn't take long for a couple of the neighborhood kids
to find the water.
What fun to be a kid in the hot summertime in Oklahoma
Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
