This is a worrisome time for everyone. Wildfires are breaking out in Oklahoma because of the drought and heat situation.
The grocery store in Welch, Oklahoma burned on Thursday night.
The store in Bluejacket, Oklahoma burned about 3 weeks ago.
I've seen numerous blackened pastures where fires have been started along the highway. A spark from a wheel or a cigarette thrown carelessly from a car window can be deadly when it's this hot and dry.
Governor Mary Fallin declared a state of emergency earlier this week, then today she implemented a burn ban for all 77 counties in Oklahoma. Some counties had already taken measures for a burn ban, but this supersedes those and can only be lifted now at the state level.
Rural fire departments get stretched to their limits during
high heat and drought situations.
I just heard on the television awhile ago that people are evacuating their homes tonight near Mannford, Oklahoma.
I just read on facebook where a baby boy was left in a car in Springdale, Arkansas this afternoon. He didn't live through it. How sad and unnecessary a death. I don't understand how you forget a baby in a car, or that you have a baby with you in the first place.
This is not a happy post, maybe I can find something funny to cheer us all up next time. Maybe tool man, or me, or the dog will pull a dumb stunt and we can all have a laugh later. Until then, for those that pray, please say a prayer for Oklahoma and everyone that's suffering from drought and heat situations.
Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
