Hi Friends and Neighbors,
Today isn't gonna be my day, obviously. I had just typed several interesting sentences(LOL) and pouf! They're gone, never to be seen or read.
Okay, I'll begin again. My story is one without pictures cause my camera wouldn't take a charge yesterday. I finally got real technical with it and rubbed both ends of the battery pack across my jeans a few times and wah lah! The battery began charging.........................after the storm. What was the cure? I have no earthly idea.
My last story was tongue in cheek about my expectations of Hurricane Isaac, well if my darn camera had been working Friday afternoon you would have thought it was the real thing. The trees were swaying almost down to the ground and limbs were blowing everywhere. There are mature trees laying on their sides and broken off above the roots. I would guess the wind was gusting 60 to 70mph. I saw some roof damage out west of town. It literally peeled the tar paper and shingles off and wadded them up and deposited them on the ground.
You've seen those hurricane pictures with the rain sheeting heavily and the wind pushing people, well that's what we experienced for about 10 minutes about 5 or 5:30pm Friday evening. I saw a horse trailer that was pushed over 75 feet in a straight line by the powerful wind.
I did hear this morning that an infant and grandparents were killed at Nowata, OK, which is west of here about thirty miles. The wind destroyed their mobile home. A truck driver was killed on the Will Rogers Turnpike when the wind blew his big rig over. How sad, so you might say a prayer for their family today.
This is short & sweet, so.............................
Until Later,
Okie Girl @ Home
